People: Deals Tab
Overview
The Deals tab allows you to run your deals inside CW and it’ll ties those contacts back to the deal once it’s converted into a project. That way when someone else is looking at it and you have a deal going with them, the relationship gets identified with an indicator icon. You can add both “People” and “Companies” into the deals section as Targets.
Start A New Deal
When a Deal is “Active”, the system will automatically tag the company and all the people tied to that company who are current employees so your team is alerted. This helps prevent your team stepping on each other’s toes.
Converting Deal To Projects
Converting a Deal to a Project takes the title and the company and creates the shell of a project. We don’t auto add clients to anything (it’s sensitive).
Company As A Target
Adding a company will auto-flag everyone in the company. But it has to be the actual company (i.e. Symphony Tech vs. Symphony Technologies – must be the correct company (or a user needs to take the time to merge) for it to apply the tag to the proper company).
Activation vs. Start Date
Activation is the day the opp was identified vs. start date being when the deal actually began getting hunted.
“Lead” & “Source”
“Lead” refers to the member of the team who’ll drive the deal. “Source” can be anyone in the universe who already lives inside Clockwork (as in the source of who referred the deal).
Presenting Deals During Partner Meetings
You’d simply use the Deals tab to filter by user (and any additional filters that are helpful) and pull those up for discussion during the meeting along with making notes inside each deal related to action items.
Also keep the following in mind:
- If you add a person as a target to a deal, they will get a flag icon on their record within the system alerting your other users that they are part of an active deal.
- If you add a company as a target on a deal, all the associated contacts at that company profile will get flagged.
